Here are some examples that we would like to share with you.<\/p>\n\n<p>Currently, the amount generated through this means may seem small; however, data from the Energy Sector Intelligence Observatory (OISE) indicates that in the next 24 years, the country will invest 2 billion dollars per year to produce this type of energy.<\/p>\n\n<p>To bolster the growth of clean energy usage, various industries in Mexico have decided to bet on including its use, and these are the most important ones.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wind energy in the restaurant industry.<\/h4>\n\n<p>Alsea, the Mexican company that operates various restaurants, obtains nearly 60% of the energy used in its restaurants, including Starbucks and Burger King, from renewable sources, including wind energy.<\/p>\n\n<p>The company started implementing this strategy in 2013 when it signed its first contract with a photovoltaic park that committed to providing clean energy to its businesses.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainability in the automotive industry.<\/h4>\n\n<p>Since 2015, General Motors announced that it would start using wind energy sources in its facilities in Mexico, joining the companies committed to environmental conservation.<\/p>\n\n<p>From that moment on, and thanks to the agreement signed with Enel Green Power, the plants in Mexico started operating with the power of the wind. At that time, Rob Threlkeld, Director of Global Energy and Infrastructure at GM, mentioned that Mexico represented a strategic country to begin implementing new energy strategies.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The energy is fed into a national grid, making it easier to reduce or increase the energy capacity in a locality. There is also a business case, as the price of traditional energy is around one-third higher than in the United States,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wind energy in the food and beverage industry.<\/h4>\n\n<p>Nestl\u00e9 is one of the companies most committed to the use of renewable energies, including wind energy. This is because since 2012, Nestl\u00e9 was the first in its industry to bet on this type of alternative by signing an agreement with the Bii Nee Stipa II wind farm located in Oaxaca.<\/p>\n\n<p>In 2022, the French-origin company reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by celebrating new agreements in other countries to utilize wind energy in its plants. In that year, Spain joined the cause as Nestl\u00e9 signed a 10-year agreement with BayWa r.e, a renewable energy generation company, to work together in the country.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Construction materials industry.<\/h4>\n\n<p>Cementos de M\u00e9xico (Cemex) is one of the companies in the construction sector that has shown a strong commitment to sustainability principles.<\/p>\n\n<p>In 2021, Cemex announced a significant achievement towards reaching their goal of having 40% of the energy in their plants come from renewable sources by 2030.<\/p>\n\n<p>The company&#8217;s commitment goes beyond the use of wind energy, as in 2022 it also secured financing with the European Commission to build a prototype of a floating offshore wind turbine.<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wind energy in the baking industry.<\/h4>\n\n<p>In 2012, the bread production company Bimbo announced that one of their plans was to generate 100% of their energy from wind power. This was because they began the construction of the Piedra Larga wind farm.<\/p>\n\n<p>This is one of the largest power-generating wind farms in Mexico, and each of the turbines installed at the plant has the capacity to produce 8,000 megawatts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More and more companies are betting on the use of wind energy to reaffirm their commitment to the environment.
